Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The older snowpack will remain well bonded and stable in all locations. Isolated deposits of shallow windslab will persist at the top of some steep North-East to South-East aspects above 1100 metres. These deposits will be confined to wind sheltered areas such and gully tops and coire rims and gradually consolidate through the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A cold, dry sunny day. The freezing level will be around 700 metres. Moderate Northerly winds will ease overnight becoming light Southerly by dawn and increasing in strength slightly through the day. Observed Weather Influences: Rain at all levels overnight and through the morning gradually turned to snow above around 750 metres and eased through the afternoon. Strong Southerly winds moderated and became North-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack remains well bonded and stable. Isolated deposits of moderately bonded windslab are developing on some steep North-East to South-East aspects above around 1100 metres. These deposits are shallow and generally confined to some wind sheltered areas such as some gully tops and coire rims. The avalanche hazard is Low.
