Intensive snowfall above approximately 1600 m: The prevalence of avalanche prone locations and likelihood of triggering will increase from the second half of the night. In all aspects and at intermediate and high altitudes medium-sized and large natural avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of new snow and strong wind. The peak of avalanche activity will be reached in the late morning probably. Avalanches can reach valley bottoms and in some places endanger exposed transportation routes. Ski touring and other off-piste activities, including snowshoe hiking, call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger.

Up to 100 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since yesterday. Above approximately 1000 m snow will fall until midday over a wide area. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The easterly wind will transport the new snow. The old snowpack is well consolidated and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Intermediate and high altitudes: Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes.

The avalanche danger will not decrease for the time being.
