Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will be found on North-East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops, crag aprons, coire rims and convex terrain will be most affected, especially where accumulations have gained depth. Later in the day, fresh isolated areas of windslab will build on other aspects but these will be easily avoidable. Elsewhere, the snowpack will continue to consolidate with many areas being firm and icy. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry with light snowfall from late morning onwards. Moderate winds from the North-East will veer to the East-South-East strengthening slightly. The freezing level will fluctuate around 650 meters. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow cleared to leave a mainly dry day with a few sporadic snow showers. Light winds from the North-West with the freezing level around 1000 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: Unstable windslab has built on mainly North-East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. Areas most affected are steep wind sheltered locations such as coire rims, gully tops, crag aprons and convex terrain where accumulations have gained depth. Elsewhere the snowpack continues to consolidate with improved stability. The old existing snowpack is firm and icy. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
