Avalanche Activity

Moist snow slides are possible from the middle of the day.

The early morning will see favourable avalanche conditions generally. From the early morning on very steep sunny slopes there will be a gradual increase in the danger of moist snow slides. Explanation: "these" may only stand for "these avalanches" can be released by people or triggered naturally.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of falling temperatures a crust formed on the surface during the course of the night. These conditions will facilitate a stabilisation of the snowpack by midday in all aspects. Above approximately 2000 m there are 15 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. Below approximately 1800 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Tendency

Wednesday: Decrease in danger of moist avalanches as the temperature drops. Slight increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of new snow and wind.
