New snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

Over a wide area over a wide area 30 to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Friday above approximately 2000 m. The moderate wind has transported the new snow. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. Above approximately 2200 m a lot of snow is lying. Further warming: The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night.

As the day progresses as a consequence of warming there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches. In some regions increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of the new snow.

Less snow than expected has fallen since yesterday. The sometimes moderate wind has transported some snow. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls wind slabs formed. The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation more avalanches are possible as the day progresses, even large ones in isolated cases. As the moisture increases moist and wet avalanches are to be expected. This applies in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Ski touring and other off-piste activities, including snowshoe hiking, call for caution.
