At upper elevations in shaded areas people could trigger slabs to four feet in depth in steep, avalanche-prone terrain. Yesterday's strong sunshine resulted in several dangerous avalanches three feet in depth on steep, southerly aspects at mid and high elevations. Overnight cool temperatures and strong sun crusts should reduce the hazard of similar slides. New snow transported by strong winds will develop the possibility of human triggered soft slabs on lee slopes or sloughs on the sun crusts. Be alert as the size of such slides will increase through the day and may become hazardous. At low elevations above freezing temperatures overnight will continue to weaken the snowpack and slides in steep areas, ravines, road cuts or from rooftops will be possible.

The Pacific storm system will continue to bring light snow into Tuesday evening before tapering off after midnight. Wednesday will have a chance of light snow in the early morning then skies will become partly cloudy. Temperatures will rise from morning lows near 10 degrees to the mid 20s. Winds will be northeasterly to northerly at 10 miles per hour.In the Tetons the new snow rests on slick sun crusts even on northeasterly aspects where the new snow is being worked into soft slabs a foot or more in depth. Backcountry travelers could release these slabs in steep avalanche-prone slopes at upper elevations. Periods of sunshine will rapidly soften the new snow and wet-loose sloughs will be possible on steep, sunlit aspects. In the Southwest Trails/Greys River areas and the Togwotee Pass area there remains concern that deeper slabs to three feet in depth could be human triggered on steep, avalanche paths. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate.
