Kernpunkte

This morning the General Avalanche Hazard is LOW, rising to MODERATE with daily warming. Below freezing overnight temperatures have temporarily stabilized the snowpack. As the day progresses, rising temperatures, along with some sunshine, will increase sloughing and wet slide activity.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Sunday will bring clouds and periods of snow showers with the snow level at 8500 feet. Accumulations of one inch or less are expected. Winds will be southwesterly at 15 to 20 miles per hour. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The Avalanche Hazard will drop to LOW overnight at all elevations as lower temperatures and radiation cooling help to reform strong crusts. Overcast skies and lower temperatures should keep the Hazard at LOW at Mid and Upper elevations where crusts will hold firm most of the day. At Low elevations crusts over the rotten snowpack will soften and may also be warmed by rain. There the hazard will climb to MODERATE.
