Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW at all elevations. At Upper elevations strong winds and daily light snow has developed isolated pockets of soft surface slabs to a foot in depth. The slabs are on very steep terrain in lee areas near ridgecrests. Be alert to the consequenses of small slides over cliffs, into trees or ravines.

South to southwesterly winds will blow at 20 to 25 miles per hour with higher gusts. Temperatures will drop to near zero tonight then rise into the mid twenties Wednesday. Lighter snow totalling one to two inches is expected during the day tomorrow. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The General Avalanche Hazard will increase to MODERATE at Upper and Mid elevations by tomorrow morning with new snow and wind. Sensitive fast, loose sloughs and soft slabs to eighteen inches in depth may be triggered on a variety of aspects. At Low elevations lighter snow amounts are expected and the General Avalanche Hazard will remain LOW.
