In all aspects in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack on extremely steep shady slopes. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on extremely steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night and will already soften in the late morning. The weather conditions will give rise to slight softening of the snowpack.
