Avalanche Activity

Dry slab avalanches are the main danger.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain above approximately 2200 m and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The fresh snow and local mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on north to east to southeast facing aspects.

Snowpack Structure

The soft wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
