Forecast Weather Influences: A mild day with some scattered showers which will fall as rain at all levels. Very strong Southerly winds will ease gradually through the day. The freezing level will be above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: A mild, dry day with strong South-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose to just above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snowpack is well bonded and stable in all locations. A gradual thaw continues. The snow surface was firm this morning, softening slowly through the day. Largest snowfields remain above 1000 metres in gullies, around corrie back walls and on summit plateau areas. Very patchy elsewhere. The avalanche hazard is Low.
