Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will be present on all aspects, with East through South to South-West aspects above 700 metres most affected. Wet snow instabilities will develop during the day on slopes exposed to the sun. Recently formed cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Occasional snow showers overnight followed by a dry day. Moderate West-North-Westerly winds slowly back to South-Easterly through the period. The freezing level will rise to around 400 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: After overnight snow it was a cold, mainly dry day with light to moderate North-Easterly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of unstable windslab are present mainly on East through South to South-West aspects above 700 metres. There are fragile cornices above these aspects. There are also wet snow surface instabilities on South-East to South-West aspects exposed to the sun. Other aspects and lower elevations are generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
