Favorable conditions

Fresh snowdrifts have settled well, bonding of fresh snow to old snowpack is adequate until above 2500 m. The snow base is thoroughly moist up to high altitudes.

On Thursday, rainfall will taper off, some sunshine, elsewhere compact clouds predominate. On the southern flank of the Alps sunny with small convective cloud build-up in afternoon. Strong NW winds til midday, then sleackening off and shifting to westerly. At 2000 m: +6 degrees.

Cloudy in the morning, rainfall in the Northern Alps. As of midday, sunshine will slowly take over, the W/NW winds will be light-to-moderate, strong on the eastern rim of the Alps. At 2000 m: 4-9 degrees. Wet-snow problem will increase. On Saturday, lots of sunshine, very mild, daytime cycle of avalanche danger. Terminate backcountry tours early in the day.

Favorable conditions

Avalanche danger is low. Gliding snow remains the main problem, and has receded. Isolated naturally triggered glide-snow avalanches cannot be ruled out on steep stopes which have not yet discharged. Isolated loose-snow slides in steep rough and rocky terrain are possible. Triggering a slab avalanche is only possible in high alpine terrain by large additional loading.
