Forecast Snow Stability: Isolated and mostly shallow accumulations of unstable windslab will develop in wind sheltered locations. Where these new accumulations achieve depth over refrozen old snow, they will be poorly bonded. This situation is most likely to occur on the higher mountains along the Northern boundary of the forecast area, on North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Unstable deposits may also be present on North and South-East aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Freezing level lowering steadily from 1200 metres during the early evening to 900 metres: Followed by a rapid lowering during daylight hours to reach 300 metres by the end of the period. Light overnight snowfall for the Southern part of the forecast area with moderate snowfall along the Northern boundary, ceasing by mid-morning. Strong South-West veering Westerly winds overnight. Easing slightly as they veer Northerly, before strengthening and backing to the North-West during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry day with some occasional light precipitation. Strong South-Westerly winds. Freezing level situated around the higher summits. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow is well bonded and stable. Plateau areas are free from snow with patches remaining in wind sheltered locations. Largest areas are to be found in steep features such as gully tops, corrie rims and burn lines on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
