Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack will be generally moist. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The new snow will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will increase during the day.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of the new snow the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses.

The new snow will become increasingly prone to triggering in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. As the precipitation becomes more intense the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses. Danger level 3 (considerable) will be reached in the afternoon probably. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation more frequent medium-sized avalanches are possible. Backcountry touring and snowshoe hiking call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and a certain restraint.
