Forecast Snow Stability: The generally wet snowpack will continue to thaw and deplete at lower levels. Above 850 metres new snow and windslab instabilities will continue to develop. These instabilities will be present on wind sheltered terrain on North through East to South-East aspects affecting steep terrain, such as corrie rims, ridge flanks and the tops of gullies and scarp slopes. Wind exposed aspects will be scoured. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: The gale force South-West winds will gradually decrease in strength overnight becoming moderate North-North-West by tomorrow afternoon. There will be frequent moderate showers overnight then dryer tomorrow. Above 800 metres these showers will fall as snow with larger snow amounts expected further inland. The freezing level will be quite erratic, generally lowering from 1000 metres to around 950 metres by tomorrow evening. Observed Weather Influences: There have been strong gale force South-West winds with the freezing level around summit levels. There have been moderate showers throughout the period these sometimes falling a snow on the higher summits. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has depleted and is thawing in the milder unsettled conditions. Best snow cover is mainly above 600 metres where the snow is wet. At higher levels wet snow, and windslab instabilities are present on North through East to South-East aspects on steep wind sheltered terrain above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
