Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will develop mostly on North through East to South-East aspects above 700 metres. Locations most affected will be steep wind sheltered terrain such as corrie rims and gully tops. Cornices will build above the same aspects. Below 600 metres, the new snow will lie mostly on bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be a period of snow pre dawn, then wintry showers through the day. Snow will generally be lying above 300 metres at the end of the forecasting period. The freezing level will fluctuate around 500 metres. Light Southerly winds will strengthen overnight to reach strong, then veer, becoming West by daybreak. Observed Weather Influences: Moderate showers, falling as snow above 800 metres. The freezing level lowered from 900 metres to 500 metres. Moderate North-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack is well consolidated and generally stable throughout. However, isolated pockets of unstable windslab exist in steep locations around summit levels. These are mainly on North-East to South-Easts aspects. Below 600 metres the snowpack is moist and thawing. The avalanche hazard is Low.
