Kernpunkte

Small pockets of wind slab are the most likely avalanche problem you'll find out there. Early season hazards remain. Lightly buried rocks, variable snow quality and shrubs are the top 3 hazards that could get you. Tread lightly.

Little change today. There's been some minor wind loading overnight, but not enough to make a significant difference. The primary concern remains the wind slabs resting on the Nov 11 crust.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Be careful with sluffing in steep terrain, especially above cliffs and terrain traps.
  • Ice climbers should be equipped with avalanche safety gear.
  • Be careful with wind-loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and rollovers.
  • Avoid terrain traps such as gullies and cliffs where the consequence of any avalanche could be serious.
