Avalanche Summary

An Avalanche Warning is in effect for the northern Front Range, Never Summer Range, Rabbit Ears Range, and Medicine Bow Mountains. Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions to continue through Monday. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches are likely to release spontaneously, and it will be very easy for you to trigger an avalanche that can bury you. Avalanches can be triggered from a distance and below, running long distances into flat ground. If you trigger an avalanche in new snow, expect it to step down to deeply buried weak layers, causing a much larger avalanche. Avoid being on, under, or connected to any slopes steeper than about 30 degrees.

December 31, 2022, two skiers were caught in an avalanche on Peak 10 southwest of Breckenridge and one did not survive. You can read the preliminary accident report here. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the people involved in this tragic accident.
