The likelihood of triggering an avalanche on Thursday is low. Continue to think critically about terrain and snowpack and remember there can always be pockets of unstable snow in isolated terrain.
Avalanche Discussion
In recent days we have been lucky when the snow surface softens up enough for good riding condtions. Although the chances are low, recongize the signs of wet loose avalanches coming on. If the snow surface becomes wet and slushy to ankle depth or more, small wet loose avalanches may happen on steep slopes especially in the direct sun during the warmest times of the day.
A low pressure system is expected to move into the central Oregon mountains sometime late Thursday night or Friday morning. No precipitiation is expected during the daytime hours on Thursday, and therefore snowpack and avalanche condtions will remain status quo on Thursday.
