The danger rating on the Skyline is CONSIDERABLE today.

Any steep slope in the upper elevation terrain that faces north, northeast or east could produce a deep, dangerous avalanche.

Some slopes will stay in place, some won't. You can't tell which ones are stable and which ones aren't. You won't see any signs of danger. This makes things exceptionally dangerous.

    The only thing going on today remains the off chance of triggering a deep avalanche BUT THIS IS A BIG DEAL. It is possible to trigger a deep avalanche that breaks into old sugary faceted snow, possibly all the way to the ground. Chances are low, consequences are high.

    Personally, I've decided to avoid steep slopes for the rest of the season. It's too unpredictable out there for my taste. Yes, most steep slopes will stay in place right now. Some will not. There's no way to guarantee which ones stay in place and which ones avalanche.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: Riding conditions remained quite good on Sunday but the warm temperatures are quickly taking their toll. The majority of the terrain has now become damp and you'll find crusts out there this morning. Wind was light to moderate from the northwest on Sunday and is generally light this morning. Overnight temperatures hovered around freezing.

Mountain Weather: High temperatures look like they'll get into the mid 40s today. Wind from the northwest will be generally light but slightly breezy in high exposed locations. Temperatures continue to warm through the week with highs getting into the 50s and possibly hitting 60˚F by Thursday. A storm cools things off Saturday bringing possibly a small amount of snow.
