Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.

The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality. The sleet gave rise on Tuesday to significant moistening of the snowpack in all aspects below approximately 2700 m. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night and will already be soft in the early morning. The weather will be cloudy. The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already exist in the early morning. More wet snow slides and avalanches are to be expected, even medium-sized ones, caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep north facing slopes below approximately 2600 m, and on very steep east, south and west facing slopes at elevated altitudes.

Up to 2500 m rain will fall in the next few hours. Wednesday: Some rain will fall from midday. In the last few days the weather was mild. This situation gave rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2800 m. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures the snowpack consolidated. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes at high altitude, and in all aspects at intermediate altitudes. Hardly any more avalanches were reported. The amount of snow is subject to significant local variations. Especially on sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m no snow is lying. On shady slopes below the tree line hardly any snow is lying. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular in high Alpine regions.

The weather will be cloudy. Some rain will fall. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night.
