Avalanche Activity

Attention: fresh snowdrift masses

Avalanche danger above the treeline is CONSIDERABLE, below that altitude danger is LOW. Freshly generated snowdrift accumulations are prone to triggering, and increase with ascending altitude. Avalanches can in isolated cases attain medium size where snowfall has been heaviest. Snowdrifts are located on N-facing slopes, particularly in gullies and bowls.

Snowpack Structure

Fresh snowdrift accumulations have formed. In isolated cases they lie deposited atop a loose old snowpack surface. The snowpack at high altitudes is heavily wind-impacted and irregular.

Weather Synopsis

The Nockberge will be shrouded in clouds from the south on Tuesday. In the morning, scattered clouds before snowfall sets in again during the afternoon. Southerly winds will intensify during the day, reaching windspeeds of 60 km/hr in the afternoon. At 2000 m: -7 degrees; at 3000 m: -13 degrees. On Tuesday night, more snowfall in all regions, focus in the south.

Tendency
