Kernpunkte

As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase in particular on extremely steep south facing slopes above approximately 1600 m. The wind slabs can be released in some cases.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase in particular on extremely steep south facing slopes above approximately 1600 m. The wind slabs can be released in some cases.

As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes. The wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular in extremely steep terrain. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Snow sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases, with a large load in most cases.

Snowpack Structure

As the day progresses as a consequence of solar radiation there will be only a slight increase in the danger of moist snow slides. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack, especially on shady slopes above approximately 1700 m. The more recent wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. The wind slabs are to recognise and can be released in isolated cases especially at their margins.
