The snowpack is stable and the avalanche danger is generally LOW this weekend.

There are some fresh wind drifts in the higher terrain that may crack out on a person. These are not much threat unless you are in very steep and exposed terrain with trees, rocks or cliffs below.

Wind drifted snow around a bit more than I anticipated on Saturday. John Pikus was up in Pleasant Creek and describes what he was seeing in this backcountry observation he submitted. John summed it up well in noting that the threat of fresh wind drifts cracking out on a person isn't all that great unless you are in radical and exposed terrain where you might get pushed into trees or over rocks. These drifts will be less sensitive today. Just keep in mind that you might find one that could crack if provoked. Also keep in mind that the wind was from the east so you'll find fresh drifts in different locations than usual.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: Temperatures on Saturday maxed out around freezing and dropped back down to about 20˚F overnight. East and northeast wind remains in the moderate speed range along the higher terrain. Mountain Weather: Skies will be mostly clear today with temperatures warming into the upper 30s in the upper elevations. Northeast wind should slow and shift to the northwest later today. It looks like we may see another small storm move through around Thursday that might bring a few inches of snow.
