Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist on South to West aspects above 950 metres. Further accumulations will develop on North-West and North aspects above 950 metres, as snow is redistributed. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and scarp slopes will be affected, although most accumulations are expected to be shallow and avoidable. Slopes exposed to the wind will become firm. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Trace snowfall overnight is expected to precede a generally dry day. Overnight winds will be strong Northerlies, veering to Easterly and decreasing to become light in strength. During the day winds will increase to become very strong South-Easterlies. The freezing level will be around 700 metres rising later, however the snow temperatures will remain sub zero due a stable airmass. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow fall and light snow showers during the day, confined to above 800 metres at midday. Winds were moderate and from the East-South-East. The freezing level was around 950 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab are present, on South through West to North-West aspects above 950 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and scarp slopes are particularly affected. Outwith these locations, a firm crust is evident where the moist snowpack is exposed to the wind. Elsewhere a cosmetic dusting of wet snow is present above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
