Kernpunkte

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Deep instabilities persist near the base of the snowpack in some areas. The possibility continues for people, especially those on snow machines, to trigger hard slab avalanches to depths of six feet or more in very steep avalanche terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. ) Light snow is forecasted for the peaks Monday night and Tuesday. Accumulations should be less than three inches and temperatures will rise from morning lows near ten degrees into the mid teens during the day. Winds along the crests will be 15 miles per hour from the northwest overnight then westerly Tuesday. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Some potential may remain for users to trigger deep, hard slabs up to six feet in depth in a few very steep, higher elevation avalanche paths. Larger triggers such as snowmachines or many people on a slope may be necessary to start one of these deep, hard slabs.
