Avalanche Summary

You could trigger a small slide on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees, where you find more than about 8 inches of drifted snow. Avoid these drifted areas to prevent triggering an avalanche.

On March 7th, a backcountry skier was caught and killed in an avalanche near Vail Pass. The avalanche released on a northeast-facing slope near treeline, about 2-3 feet deep.
