Clear skies and strong temperature inversions will continue for one final day before the high pressure erodes and clouds push into the area tonight. The snowpack is stable and avalanches are unlikely at this time. Use caution to navigate the hazards associated with early season conditions. Extended dry periods promote weak snow and crust formation that can be problematic during future storms. Take note of where faceted snow and hard melt-freeze crusts currently lie in order to make safe travel decisions later.

A dry cold front associated with the leading edge of a low-pressure trough will move through the region. Clouds will increase and bring snow flurries and areas of light snowfall to the mountains on Thursday evening. Accumulations will be limited to a trace to an inch. Morning temperatures will be in the single digits in the valleys and in the teens in the mountains. Daytime highs will rise into the 20s. The snowpack is mostly stable, and avalanches are unlikely.
