Avalanche Activity

Wet snow represents the main danger.

Today the weather will be partly cloudy in some regions. However, In particular on very steep sunny slopes and at low and intermediate altitudes more medium-sized moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day. They can occur easily or triggered naturally. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be started and concluded very early.

Snowpack Structure

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good. Above approximately 2100 m: The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften quickly. In particular steep sunny slopes and intermediate altitudes: The snowpack is moist and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to extreme consolidation of the snowpack. However, The high temperatures as the day progresses will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack over a wide area.

Tendency

Up to 2300 m rain will fall in some regions. From midday as a consequence of the rain there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.
