Forecast Snow Stability: Despite some consolidation of the snow pack wet snow instabilities will be present particularly with the onset of heavy rain. Steep North-West through North to East aspects above 950 metres will be most affected. Cornices above these aspects will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Showers overnight will be rain or wet summit snow followed by heavy rain at all levels from late morning. The freezing level will be around 1100 metres overnight rising above all summits during the day. Strong South-Westerly winds. Observed Weather Influences: Precipitation gradually turned to rain at higher levels alternating between rain and wet snow above around 1000 metres during the afternoon. The freezing level rose to around 1100 metres with very strong South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Further windslab development overnight with wet snow instabilities developing during the day. Steep North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres are most affected. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
