Forecast Snow Stability: Little change is expected to the snowpack. It will remain firm and well bonded in all locations. Surface layers will be frozen and often icy which could lead to serious consequences on steep ground in the event of a slip. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, another frost in the glens, the freezing level will be around 800 metres. A dry, clear day with plenty of sunshine. The summit temperature will rise to around minus 2 Celsius during the afternoon. Light South-Easterly winds veering, becoming more Southerly and strengthening slightly.
Observed Weather Influences: After a cold frosty night the sun shone for the rest of the day. Generally it was also quite calm only light North-Westerly winds at the higher elevations. No precipitation with the freezing level at around 700 metres this morning.
ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is well bonded and stable, with firm, icy conditions present on all aspects above 650 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
