Avalanche Activity

As the day progresses as a consequence of solar radiation there will be a gradual increase in the avalanche danger to level 2 (moderate).

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation wet small and medium sized avalanches are possible as the day progresses. Single snow sport participants can release avalanches, including medium-sized ones. The old snowpack will become generally moist. In particular on very steep north facing slopes the avalanches can release the moist old snow as well and reach large size in some cases.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. This applies in particular below approximately 1900 m.
