You could still trigger recently formed wind slabs on exposed features Friday particularly near the base of cliffs, on convex rollovers, and in confined chutes. These potential avalanches will be more prevalent as you ascend into alpine terrain. Look for visual clues to help identify wind-loaded areas. When you see textures surfaces, drifts behind objects, or fresh cornices, anticipate wind slabs on nearby lee slopes. While these slabs should remain shallow and small, don't let them catch you by surprise in high consequence terrain. Seek out less wind-affected or lower angled slopes to travel through these areas.
In more sheltered terrain, the cold nature of this storm likely created a soft and unconsolidated surface. Don’t be surprised if you trigger shallow loose dry avalanches that run quickly over a recent crust.
