Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of new snow and wind a moderate danger of dry avalanches will be encountered in some regions.

The foehn wind has transported the new snow significantly. Fresh wind slabs have formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Below approximately 2000 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. By the early morning sometimes easily released wind slabs formed in particular in the regions exposed to the foehn wind. Below approximately 2000 m only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
