Avalanche Activity

In these regions the snowpack will soften rapidly.

Over a wide area from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. Here less snow than usual is lying. Rain to the high Alpine regions. As the moisture increases small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural dry avalanches are possible above approximately 2700 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will freeze very little. The rain will give rise as the day progresses to moistening of the snowpack over a wide area. This situation will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack in particular at elevated altitudes. At intermediate altitudes the snowpack will soften very quickly.
