Avalanche Activity

The more recent wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence above approximately 2200 m.

The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in high Alpine regions. At high altitude the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. Over a wide area 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall on Friday above approximately 700 m. In the evening as a consequence of the snowfall there will be a gradual increase in the avalanche danger. The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind, small wind slabs will form. Snow depths vary greatly at intermediate and high altitudes, depending on the infuence of the wind. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Over a wide area 30 to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall on Saturday above approximately 1500 m. Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
