Wet snow avalanches remain possible once snow surfaces soften this afternoon. The danger is highest on very steep slopes and around cliffs that will expedite heating. The main concern exists where water has reached crust/facet interfaces in the top portion of the snowpack. There is less of a problem in lower elevation terrain, but specific slopes that harbor more snow and crust interfaces could be affected by remaining meltwater. Avalanches with start zones in middle elevations also have the potential to impact low-elevation areas. While unlikely, wet avalanches could occur in isolated areas at upper elevations if we get enough heating by this afternoon.
Wet slab avalanches are hard to predict and can occur naturally. Limit your time traveling in or under large start zones and avalanche paths. Minimize time on steep slopes with softening surfaces and watch for rollerballs. Dig down to determine if there is still wet snow underneath any thin crusts.

A large natural wind slab yesterday that was most likely cornice-triggered.
Old wind slabs will have increased sensitivity during peak warming, increasing the likelihood of natural and human triggering.
