Avalanche Activity

In some localities increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

During the day: In particular in steep rocky terrain and on sunny slopes small and medium-sized moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls: The fresh snow of Sunday as well as the mostly small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant above the tree line. This applies in particular on very steep slopes. Backcountry touring calls for caution.

Snowpack Structure

15 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Sunday. Where it is gradually settling down. The wind was light to moderate adjacent to ridgelines. In some places new snow is lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack. Or on crusts. Towards its surface, the snowpack is soft and has a loosely bonded surface. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. Especially adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects: Over a wide area snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

The weather will be cold. Wind and new snow: The avalanche danger will increase during the day.
