Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Isolated accumulations of windslab will develop during the afternoon above 1000 metres on North-East to South-East aspects, these will be shallow and generally avoidable and confined to gully tops and coire rims. Elsewhere the snowpack will remain well bonded and stable on all aspects and elevations. The greatest snow cover will remain in high coires and plateau areas above 800 metres, with snow patches and ribbons extending to lower elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force Southerly winds will steadily ease through the day to become West to North-Westerlies. Spells of light rain is expected at all levels, this will turn to snow during the afternoon as the freezing level falls from above the summits to 1000 metres by the end of the day.
