Kernpunkte

At the upper elevations, skiers and riders have the potential to trigger soft slabs in steep wind loaded terrain. In steep couloirs and cliff areas these small slides can still carry severe consequences. Evaluate snow and terrain carefully and avoid features of concern. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and low elevations.

Small pockets of slab up to eighteen inches in depth have been formed by recent snowfall and wind. These slabs lie upon older hard snow surfaces and could be human triggered in steep upper elevation avalanche starting zones and cliff areas.

Avalanche Discussion

A chance for occasional isolated snow shower activity exists into Saturday morning. Thin clouds are to prevail through most of the day with increasing chances for sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures are to rise into the mid to upper twenties at 9000 feet. The general avalanche hazard will remain Moderate above 9000 feet. Wind slabs with depths that could reach two feet in some areas lie on hard snow surfaces. Below 9000 feet the snowpack is stable and avalanche activity is unlikely.
