Kernpunkte
Three to Five inches of snow overnight and consistent westerly winds have added weight to existing unstable soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth at mid and upper elevations. The underlying slabs were formed by a variety of wind directions. Observations indicate slides have run on east through south aspects and have travelled on a buried melt-freeze crust. Buried surface hoar rests under northerly, shaded aspects and causes poor stability in those areas. Users venturing into steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones could trigger these slabs today. Below 8,000 feet the snowpack is shallow and avalanches are unlikely.
