Up to 16 inches of snow has fallen as of Friday afternoon. With more snow on Friday night, storm totals could reach 20 inches. In sheltered areas, you can trigger avalanches in the new snow that run as sluffs and pile up deep debris in terrain traps. On wind-drifted slopes, you can trigger larger avalanches that break as wide slabs. Look for and avoid areas of drifted snow in wind-exposed spots and ease into terrain in sheltered areas, being careful for loose avalanches. Winds from the east mean that you may find wind-drifted slabs in unusual places, such as westerly-facing slopes.
