Isolated pockets of hard wind slab exist at the upper elevations. These slabs could pose a threat to backcountry travelers venturing into extreme terrain. Mostly stable snow exists and avalanches are unlikely in less radical terrain and at the lower elevations.

    At the higher elevations, strong northwesterly ridgetop winds have created isolated pockets of hard wind slab with depths up to 12 inches. These slabs lie upon sun crusts and faceted snow, and could be triggered by backcountry travelers in very steep, avalanche prone terrain. While small, these slides could quickly accelerate and have the potential to carry skiers or riders over cliff bands or into terrain traps. On sunlit aspects, the potential to trigger these slabs will increase as the day warms.

Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the teens before rising into the upper 20s during the day. Northwesterly ridgetop winds will back to the west at 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Monday. At the upper elevations, isolated pockets of shallow hard slab could be triggered by backcountry travelers on very steep, avalanche prone slopes. While small, these slides have the potential to carry skiers or riders over cliff bands or into terrain traps.
