Kernpunkte

Air temperatures were warm last night and are forecast to be quite warm again today. Expect snow surfaces to soften enough that human triggered wet loose avalanches become possible. Avoid steep and consequential terrain once surface penetration increases beyond several inches, and move to cooler aspects or higher elevation slopes as your day progresses.

The likelihood for human triggered wet loose instabilities increases throughout the day, especially on lower elevation slopes with trees and rocks that collect more heat and transfer it to the snow.

Avalanche Discussion

For the past several days, snow surfaces haven't softened enough to produce significant wet instabilities, but that changes today. Last night's air temperatures were well above freezing and today's high temperatures will be very warm. The likelihood for human triggered wet loose instabilities increases throughout the day, especially on lower elevation slopes with trees and rocks that collect more heat and transfer it to the snow. Tonight and tomorrow night, overnight lows cool back to freezing.
