Kernpunkte

The general avalanche hazard will be LOW during the morning hours and increaset to MODERATE later in the day. Abundant sunshine and warm temperatures will melt crusts and increase the wet snow avalanche hazard. Areas of wet, unconsolidated snow are likely to develop below an elevation of 9,500 feet and in steep sunlit rocky areas above that elevation. At the highest elevations small wet, loose slides and isolated pockets of shallow wind slab could have consequences for humans who venture into cliff areas and no fall zones. Watch out for unstable snow in isolated terrain features.

Warming temperatures will be increasing the wet snow avalanche hazard. Wet slides are possible in cliff areas and on very steep slopes after snow surfaces soften and the snowpack becomes wet and weak. Monitor temperatures and the impact of the sun, and transition to colder terrain when crusts begin to break down.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures will drop into the teens overnight and rise into the 30s and 40s during the day. Light northerly winds will back to the southwest later in the day.Clear skies and cold overnight temperatures will allow snow surfaces to harden overnight. Abundant sunshine, warmer temperatures and lighter winds will combine to break down crusts and increase the wet snow avalanche hazard during the day. Areas of wet unconsolidated snow are expected to develop below an elevation of 9,500 feet. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations in the morning and increase to MODERATE in steep terrain in the afternoon.
