Recent variable winds have created wind slabs in alpine terrain atop a variety of old surfaces.
Both wind slabs and persistent weak layers remain a concern in steep alpine terrain.
Continually assess as you travel, and back off terrain when signs of instability are observed.

A layer of facets over a crust is buried 80 to 150cm. There have been no new reports of avalanches on this layer, and it is likely difficult to trigger with the generally stable weather.
No new avalanche activity has been reported.
Recent light snowfall has been redistributed by variable winds at higher elevations.
A dusting of new snow will bury a supportive crust found on south-facing slopes.
A persistent weak layer of facets and crust is buried 80 to 150 cm deep in alpine terrain. The greatest concern for triggering comes from large loads, such as cornice falls, or from human triggering in areas where the snowpack transitions from thin to thick.
