Avalanche Activity

Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. More recent wind slabs are clearly recognisable. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Avalanches can be triggered in the old snowpack reach large size in isolated cases in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

These spring-like weather conditions from the late morning will give rise to moistening of the snowpack in all aspects. The various wind slabs have bonded with each other and the old snowpack. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes. Avalanches can in some places be released in deep layers in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes.
