Dry avalanches are possible during the day, especially on steep slopes.
Some new snow to low altitudes. New snow and wind slabs can be released, mostly by large loads in isolated cases. This applies especially on steep slopes, in particular at the border to France. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the avalanche danger is a little higher. Avalanches can additionally in isolated cases be released in near-ground layers also.
Over a wide area 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall in all altitude zones. In the vicinity of peaks the wind slabs will increase in size moderately. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on old snow containing large grains. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The old snowpack is fairly homogeneous and its surface has a melt-freeze crust, in particular on steep sunny slopes.
