At elevated altitudes a dangerous avalanche situation will be encountered in some regions.
The fresh snow and local mostly small wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above approximately 2200 m. These are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. Several small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of the ceasing of precipitation. In the typical avalanche paths in these regions the avalanches can in very isolated cases reach large size. In the avalanche path a little snow is lying. This shortens the runout distances.
The new snow of the weekend is lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. Up to 50 cm of snow, and up to 60 cm in some localities, fell in the last two days above approximately 2000 m. Also in all regions above approximately 2500 m snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
